Traditional Chinese Medicine Here I Come!!!

So for semester 5, it is compulsory for us to complete a selective. There used to be only 4 choices to choose from, which are veterinary pharmacy, radiopharmacy, bioinformatics and analytical method validation. IMU has introduced a Chinese Medicine early this year and should I say lucky or not, it is also introduced into one of the selective choices.

IMG_8763

Yeah, 5 choices this year but the sad news is that there are only 25 places eligible for students to apply in each selective and it is based on first-come,first-served basis. 25?? That’s just too cruel. We have around 125 students in our class and obviously, there are only 2 selective which are interesting enough to make students wanna fight for them, Traditional Chinese Medicine and Veterinary Pharmacy.

So the “kiasu-ness” plays a vital role in securing a place for yourself in the selection of your choice. Most of us The whole class handed in the forms hours before the submission time which is set by the academic affair department, even before the briefing about selective was done.

I don’t care. We don’t care.

IF YOU FOLLOW THE RULES COMPLETELY, YOU WILL NEVER SURVIVE!!!

My prayers were answered today. I was selected for Traditional Chinese Medicine!!

 Untitled

Saw my name? Saw my name?? :D

What made it perfect is that I have Sharon, Bel, Ah Long, Yit Kuay and Ru Yi together in the same subject! Woo Hoo!

There will be no written exam in this subject but we need to complete assignments and a presentation. I hope they are not too challenging. Phiew..

And here is the professor who will be teaching us, I guessed.

IMG_8770

She has this “I learnt Chinese Medicine” face. Someone told me that I look like her, do I?????????????? If that’s the truth, maybe my brain looks like hers too? And I can score well in this! Hooray!!!

Maybe after months of lectures and countless of research that is needed for the assignment and presentation, we will be able to develop all kinds of Chinese Medicine skills?

IMG_8768

Maybe most of us could diagnose diseases just by reading one’s pulse?

IMG_8767

Or perhaps we are skilful enough to perform acupuncture on patients? Maybe not patients, on our friends, maybe?? :D

IMG_8766

Or maybe this? I have no idea what is this… Moxibustion.. What on earth is that?

I don’t know what to expect from this subject. Will it be interesting? Will I regret it? I have no idea.

But there is one thing that I’ve always believed in, that no matter what situation we are thrown with, we will all survive in the end. :)

A Day Trip Back to Kluang =)

Jason joined me back to Kluang last weekend, for a day trip! =)

He is my very first “non-kluangian” friend whom I brought back to my hometown. Yay!

I needed to give him a morning call at 6.45am just to make sure he didn’t stay in his dreamland for too long.

IMG_8582

Us, posing after withdrawing cash from ATM at IMU.

$$$

We then walked to the bus terminal in Bukit Jalil Staium car park. Felt like a backpacker! =)

IMG_8584

We took the 8am bus ride.

IMG_8588

Jason started singing korean songs in the bus.

It was a 3-hour journey and we got bored eventually.

Jason started to post for the camera, “sexily”

IMG_8590

And I……………………….

IMG_8592

…was replicating his pose. ;)

After reaching Kluang at around 11.30am, we took a taxi to my dental clinic. Oh my, it was like 18 years ago since I last got on a taxi in Kluang. Nostalgic!

IMG_8595

My orthodontist, Dr. Yang. Going to meet him after another 6 more months!

I already planned a day trip of non stop eating itinerary for Jason and I.

First stop: Honey Garden or Land? I forgot. I called it Xue Yuan.

I used to come here to have my tea. And there was where I gained my weights. :P

There is a great selection of cakes, pastries and Malay food like nasi lemak and mee siam. Yum Yum~

IMG_8598

IMG_8599

Can I order all??

IMG_8607

I took a few of my all time favourites. =)

IMG_8597

The super delicious fried chicken wing, fried carrot cake and some other kuih-muih. Yum Yum~~

And of course, I couldn’t resist the best toast bread in Kluang (at least in my opinion)!

IMG_8603

They cut a piece of bread into half (at the side) and insert kaya and a small piece of butter inside.

Arh~ That’s what I call Roti Bakar!

IMG_8602

Jason loved the fried carrot cake! =)

It was a sunny Saturday and we didn’t have any transport. But we didn’t mind walking under the hot sun!

IMG_8614

Thanks babe for sweating together with me!

Second Stop: Long Shu Xia~

IMG_8615

Another place that I used to have lunch with my family. It’s located under a big old tree, Long Shu.

IMG_8619

It’s just a simple stall, with no proper cement floor, no fan and no toilet. But they serve good food. :)

IMG_8616

My favourite dish of the stall, fried mee hoon.

Jason stopped the cook from adding any vege into it. 100% vege-free. =.=

IMG_8617

Evil Jason.

We then walked to Kluang Train Station to check out the very first Kluang Railway Restaurant. Maybe the boss sensed my presence and decided to closed the shop for that day. SAD.

So we headed to the branch, Kluang Railway, which is air conditioned. Yeah, we walked again. And to tell you the truth, I never walked such a distance in Kluang before. I was sweating like a pipe! And Jason, his t-shirt was wet wet wet.

IMG_8623

Iced Milo and Iced coffee for us~

IMG_8625

Sagu Gula Melaka.

IMG_8627

Roti Bakar (Again).

It didn’t taste as good as I thought it would. The butter in the bread was already melted! FAILED. I still preferred the original shop.

I grabbed the opportunity to meet Sin Rox, one of my beeeessssstt buddies in Kluang.

IMG_8637

Rox. Roxy. Rox.

She was kind enough to come all the way put, fetch Jason and I back to her house to chill for a while and then back to my old old home~

IMG_8643

27B, Jalan Sihat, Taman Kerjasama, 86000 Kluang Johor.

I lived there for 14 years and now it is occupied by another unknown family.

I had so many much sweet and bitter memories from that house.

The living room, my messy room, my brother’s room which then turned into my study room, my parents’ room, the ironing room where I used to sit down on the floor chatting with my mom while she ironed her clothes and the garden, where I used to kill the ants by spraying water at them. MUUAHAHAHA. I was mean….

IMG_8644

Home Sweet Home.

Next Stop? Xue Yuan For The Second Time!!!

IMG_8645

Second round of Xue Yuan.

We came back for the famous fried mushroom. It’s famous in Kluang but Rox and her sister, Yee, had never tasted them before!

IMG_8646

Look at the crispy golden skin~ Wooo La La~~

IMG_8656

Sin Rox, looking all happy with the mushroom~

IMG_8651

Sin Rox, Me and Sin Yee.

IMG_8657

We ordered the mushroom like 4 times? And we finished them all!! WOO!

Random Stop: Chong Eng Primary School

This was a total random stop. Rox was driving pass the primary school where we studied 18 years ago and we decided to get down and snap some photos.

IMG_8658

Here we are, in front of the gate of Chong Eng. We were taking care of Rox’s hair before the photo shoot.

IMG_8659

Ok, done! Students of Chong Eng Year 1995 to Year 2000.

IMG_8661

Does this remind you of your geeky class photo? :P

IMG_8663

We were driven back to our old memories, thinking about the classrooms where we used to sit all morning to attend class.

IMG_8665

Rox and I, pointing at our classrooms. =)

IMG_8666

Jason wanted a snap shot of the classroom too.

IMG_8669

Us, acting like 12-year-old kids.

It’s good to be back.

IMG_8668

It was all quiet. But pictures of me playing around with old classmates were still fresh in my mind. We were all so innocent and cute back then. =)

IMG_8667

This was where a psycho man died back in year 2000. He was shot by the police after attacking a young boy in our school. Yeah, I am serious. @@

Random Stop Continued: The park beside the school.

IMG_8674

This was the very first recreational park in the early days. It is still well maintained till now.

IMG_8677

I didn’t get to have fun in these slides. They built it when I was already a teenager. That’s just so unfair!

IMG_8678

Jason, did you travel back to your childhood as well?

IMG_8679

Oh no, I take back my sentence when I said “it is still well maintained”. The swings were all gone. Rox and I had to make our own invincible swings!

IMG_8680

We used to play in these. How did our butts fit into these?

IMG_8681

Alright. We would just stand on it. :P

IMG_8689

Shots at a garden just look great, don’t they?

Next Stop: Tangkak Beef Noodle

This was dad’s favourite dish in Kluang.

IMG_8696

It was already 4pm when we reached there. And Jason and I were still ordering food (We had been eating since 12 noon).

IMG_8702

Beef Noodles.

IMG_8700

Met up with Chia Teck and Boon Kiat as well. =)

Next Random Stop: Toy Story 3 with Jason~

IMG_8632

The cinema was packed.

IMG_8705

Jason and I with the tickets! I finally get to watch Toy Story 3! It’s my favourite cartoon which I basically grew up with it!

I wanted to cry at the end of the movie. It just brought back good childhood memories of mine!

Our day trip in Kluang ended with a dinner with Rox and Yee. They were so kind to wait for us until the movie ended and brought us for dinner and then to the bus terminal. Thanks Darlings!

IMG_8727

Rox and Yee, thanks for the day again.

I love you all so so much!

And to Jason, thanks for accompanying back to Kluang. I hope you enjoyed the trip as much as I do. And I love you too!

=)
