After travelling on a train for 14 hours, we finally reached Beijing. WOOHOO!!!! What a long journey!
Beijing train station.
We have a new tour guide, Louis. He speaks English way better than Xiao Tian.
First stop: Breakfast at Beijing famous dim sum restaurant.
Super China-ish.
The interior deco of the restaurant.
The food:
Carrot cake.
Char Siew Pao.
I didn’t like it. Super porky taste. OOUUK..
Choi Pao. (Veg pao)
Unlike those sold in Malaysia, the fillings of choi pao in China are really green veg.
Ya Za Guai.
Best ya za guai ever!! And the century egg porridge that they served was the perfect match with it! WOO LA LA!!! Thumbs up!!!
After breakfast, we headed to the Forbidden City!!!
The FORBIDDEN CITY!!!!!!!!
I had been dreaming of going to that place for years!!!!
Walking towards it. Woo WOoo WOo!!
The back door of the Forbidden City.
Louis, explaining the history of the Forbidden City. =)
The Australian prime minister was there too. That’s the car which we assumed that he must had sat in. I don’t read the newspapers much so when I saw a group of Caucasians wearing coats walking in the Imperial garden, I couldn’t recognise him at all. =.=
Some photos of the Imperial Garden in the Forbidden City:
The tour had to be stopped and the garden had to be closed because the Australian prime minister is entering. Dai Sai meh.. Wasted our time.
A few of us waiting under a traditional hut which was once used by the emperor.
Spotted some locals. Look at the way the dressed. Woo! Sexy~
Before entering to the main area which is as large as 72 hectares and consists a total of more than 8000 rooms in the buildings, we came across this cupboard which was believed to bring you luck in finding your other half.
Everyone wanted to touch it. Edmund said this to me: “Mou lun lun moh oh, jing gan mo dou chu si lei jiao ji. (in cantonese)”, which means “Don’t simply touch it. You might be in trouble in the future".” Haha. Edmund.
We were only allowed to see the interior of the building from outside. Here’s some photos of the bridal room for the emperor and his queen and concubines.
The bed frame.
The bed, made out of silk. A dragon which represents the emperor and a phoenix which represents the queen on the other hand were sewed onto the bed sheet. Nice.
There were too many buildings with different names in the Forbidden City. I couldn’t remember any single one of it.
Here’s another hall.
The interior:
Check out this super old cupboard. Look at the wood carving. Speechless.
Emperor’s office.
Another snap shot in the forbidden city.
The famous door in the Forbidden City. 9 door knobs X 9 door knobs. It is said that the emperor’s favourite number is 9 which means.. power? I forgot.
The entrance of the homes of the concubines:
Nice entrance, don’t you think so?
One of the treasure being displayed.
The emperor’s private office. Jades were seen every where.
Behind the curtain. (垂簾聽政). The one and only Empress Cixi who created it. She ruled behind that very same curtain.
Another shot. Woo! Couldn’t stop taking photos!
Some decorations on the roof top. These animals were believed to be protecting the palace.
The famous THRONE!!!
Dad, Mom and I posing with the Forbidden City. Nice! =)
It was really huge and I was almost dead after reaching the exit. My legs were so so tired!
Next stop: Tian Na Men Square
It is filled with millions of tourists! Couldn’t stop snapping photos again!
Hitler??
Tian Na Men Square:
Woohoo!! Jump jump jump!!!
Next stop: Peking Duck =)
I only see peking duck in Cafe World before. Never imagined I would have the chance to taste it myself in Beijing!
Nice restaurant.
The chef preparing the duck for us.
Peking duck!
It was the best lunch I ever had during the trip! The skin was super thin and crispy. And the sauce was superb! Everything served that lunch was made out of duck meat. Delicious!!!
Next stop : Temple of Heaven
A place which was created by the emperor to pay respect to his fathers.
It is now a recreational park which is opened to the public. Many old folks are there, hanging out with friends or just relaxing.
Uncles playing cards.
Aunty sewing something.
Uncle enjoying blowing his flute.
Louis, explaining the history again. Hot tour guide. =)
The ceiling of the corridor is nice. :)
Dad met some Malaysian tourists as well. Haha. This shot was taken when dad said “Satu” and they replied “Malaysia!!!” Sweet. =)
Temple of Heaven.
The interior.
Grabbed the chance to take a photo with Louis~
Next: Acrobatic Theatre
It was actually boring. Most of us fell asleep throughout the show.
We see this all the time along the street and in TV programs.
Mom woke up when the motorbike stunts started.
5 motorbikes riding in the steel ball. Amazing.
When the light was shut off. Cool.
Dinner was served at around 7pm. Another nice place. =)
The famous Mui Coi Kao Yok. Super de li cio~~
Checked into another hotel later that night.
The interior was nice. I supposed it is a 4 star hotel?
Louis, briefing about tomorrow’s itinerary.
The room was AMAZING! HUGE!!!!
I could run up and down in the room! Woohoo!!
2 king-sized beds and one extra single bed for me. Hey, why don’t I get a king-sized bed too??
Mah Jong table was also placed at the cornet of the room! Too bad no mahjong kaki there. Sad.
A mini garden in the middle of the building.
Couldn’t help but to pose in the cabinet. Haha. TOO MUCH SPACE!!!!!!
It took me less than 5 minutes to fell asleep that night. Sick and too tired.
=)
